So after a refreshing tram ride I made my way to the Colosseum. Every few bear steps I took, I was accosted by hawkers trying to sell me a hat, water, parasols, tickets or a selfie stick. I wondered if this is how it would have been all those years ago, as people made their way to different events at the Colosseum, they would have been stopped by sellers of figs, salted peas, dates, almonds and otter noses.
Anyway before reaching the Colosseum a scuffle broke out between two water sellers, one of whom had encroached on the other’s turf, which most people seemed to ignore and walked past.
Maybe life hasn’t changed that much after all.
