Are we ever candid with ourselves?
Do we view the mirror with success?
Are we always truthful in debate?
Frank in all things and forever blessed?
What strong webs do we silently weave?
On those sincere threads of silk?
Being free with our outspoken words
And not caring who gets hurt.
Can we speak so openly?
To people passing by
Do we see what others see?
And look them in the eye
And yet we truly hide ourselves
In candied words that wound
Reaching far across the world
In silence that consumes
