A skeleton in the closet
Warts and all
A chinless wonder
Leading a charmed life
Falls into wracke and ruine
Like a Penny Dreadful
A bad egg
On tenterhooks
They rack their brains
Waxing lyrical
Passing the buck
Clutching at straws
The cat’s out of the bag and
The penny drops
Caught red handed
A Jack of all trades and master of none
Playing the Devil’s advocate
For a pretty penny
A nose out of joint
A pound of flesh needed
A bunch of fives
A sledgehammer to crack a nut
He comes a cropper
Crying crocodile tears
As dead as dodo
His just deserts?
